Maruti Zen is one of the most popular 5-door hatchbacks manufactured and distributed in India by Marti Suzuki. Zen stands for ‘Zero Engine Noise’, and in the Japanese language, it means ‘Complete’. In production from 1993 to 2006, Zen still dominates the second-hand car market of India with a high resale value.
The first generation Zen came with an all-aluminum Suzuki G10B engine. In 1997, it got a minor facelift with body-coloured bumpers. In 1999, the company launched the Zen Classic featuring retro-looking rear and front, but it did not see much demand and was soon discontinued. A diesel version was released in 1998, equipped with Peugeot’s TUD5 (PSA TU engine) engine, but i9t did not sell well and was also discontinued. In 2000, the company introduced the 2nd generation of the car with MPFI engine 4-valves per cylinder engine. In 2003, the company launched a 3-door sports version of the car in VXi, available in black and silver colour only. Zen got a facelift in 2004 with a new body called Zen Tiger but was soon discontinued in 2006.
The third Generation of Zen, named Zen Estilo, was released in 2006. In 2009, the word ‘Zen’ was removed from its name and it became Maruti Estilo with a minor facelift. With high reliability and driver-oriented features, many Zen cars are still in use. If you are the owner of a Maruti Zen, you will find all its auto parts here with us.
