Form the year 1958 to 1986 all vehicles exported by Nissan were identified as Datsun. Nissan phased out the Datsun brand in March 1986 from global market but re-launched in emerging markets including India in June 2013 as the brand for low-cost vehicles and high value products for global market customers.

In July 2013, Datsun brand was relaunched in India with the launch of Go hatchback. In 2014, Go and Go Plus were introduced in the Indian market.
